Washington July 13 The peace treaty with the League of Nations covenant opens tomorrow as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee begins hearings. Congress faces a busy week with prohibition enforcement debates expected to dominate proceedings.
The Shipping Board granted about a ten percent wage increase to employees of vessels operating from Atlantic and Gulf ports after a day-long conference. The move aims to end the strike by marine engineers, firemen and oilers which began last Thursday. Continued on Page 12-Third Col.
Boston elevated service shows light travel on Sunday and signals the boycott persists. Reports say many commuters avoided trains on other lines as eight and ten cent fare changes take effect, with few riders switching to trolley cars.
Britain's giant airship R-34 landed at Pulham Norfolk at 6 56 GMT after a 75 hour voyage from Long Island. The ship circled the field three times before docking, completing its round trip between the British Isles and the United States.
Vienna reports King Ferdinand seeks a European princess to wed Crown Prince Charles after his morganatic marriage to Zyzis Lambrino. Princess Yolanda of Italy is mentioned. Charles reportedly shot himself in the leg after being ordered to leave Romania to forget his ex wife, whom he still loves.
National League games saw New York defeat Pittsburg 8 to 2 and Brooklyn beat St. Louis 3 to 1. American League action included Chicago over Boston 14 to 9, Cleveland over Washington 5 to 4, Detroit over New York 5 to 4, and St Louis over Philadelphia 4 to 3 in the first game at eleven innings, with a 5 to 4 second game for St Louis against Philadelphia.
Washington July 13 A move to invite Eamonn de Valera to address Congress has stalled due to his quoted opposition to the League of Nations. Several Democratic members who favor the Irish cause raised the matter with Flood, minority leader of the House foreign relations committee.
Congressman Flood conducted a discreet consult with Democratic colleagues before introducing a resolution inviting Eamon De Valera to address the House, but found strong pushback from several members.
Paris July 13 Emile Loubet and Clement Armand Fallieres former Presidents of France will occupy seats in President Poincare s reviewing stand during the victory day parade tomorrow.
One youth drowned and another narrowly escaped when a canoe overturned yesterday in Ell Pond Melrose. A bystander helped recover the body and an investigation is expected to determine the cause of the accident.
Dennis Healy proprietor of Healy's at Washington and Boylston streets warns that prohibition will force about a dozen Boston hotels out of business within a month. He says hotels serving cabaret patrons at night are hit hardest and his own business has fallen about 90 percent.
Mr Healy says he has discharged 20 percent of his staff mainly waiters and will cut more as a large empty dining room and active cabaret entertainment illustrate cost cutting. Other cafes and hotels are laying off workers with The Georgian reporting a 2 percent waiter staff reduction by W A Smith last night.

Harriet Heywood, 18, daughter of Albert S. Heywood of the Heywood Boot and Shoe Company, was injured in an automobile accident at Fishers Island. She was a Westover School graduate class of 1919 and had earlier studied at Bancroft School in Worcester.
