Couple Found Dead on Rankin County Farm in Slaying

In Jackson Mississippi on July 13, C D Newell and his wife were found shot to death in a Rankin county field. Both bodies lay 50 yards apart at dusk with gunshot wounds. investigators think Newell was killed from ambush as rain washed away clues and bloodhounds found no trail.

Drowned Man Harry R. Chace Recovered From Long Pond

In Middleboro on July 13 the body of Harry R. Chace was recovered after more than 12 hours of search at Long Pond. The drowning occurred Saturday when a squall overturned a canoe in which Chace and Leonard Perot were riding. Perot, unable to swim, clung to the craft while Chace tried to reach the shore and disappeared. Funeral services will be held Tuesday.

Woman Falls to Death From Hotel Window

Police report a 25 year old brunette died after jumping from a ninth floor hotel room. The body was found in the areaway below at 7 45 am. No identification or letters were recovered. purse held about 15 dollars. Medical examiner cites death from the fall between 2 and 3 am.

Mysterious Woman Lingers at Hotel Bellevue Before Tragic Death

Dr Magrath reports a woman staying in room at the Hotel Bellevue behaved strangely remaining in bed most days and asking meals be served there. Guests and staff recall her arrival on July 2 and shows no obvious illness, though attendants suspected illness of mind. Police and medical examiner seek motive in death by own action.
