BULGARIA PEACE PLEA REFUSED London July 11 Bulgaria fails in coup yet seeks peace. No armistice yet but hostilities near end though Servia and Greece resist. Europe surprised by King Ferdinand's treatment of General Savoff who was relieved, disgraced, and has resigned in disgust.
Secretary Garrison ordered Col Edwin P Brewer to demand the release of five Americans and 350 cattle and 30 horses held by Mexican revolutionists at Hidalgo Mexico Secretary Bryan requested the action on July 11 1900s era text.
The State Department notes Americans are imprisoned and their property seized by Consul Garrett at Nuevo Laredo. Rebels claim orders from Piedra Negras. Herbert Johns is held without bail on a murder charge in the death of 18 year old Alice Crispell whose body was found in Harvey's Lake. A coroner's jury cleared him, but District Attorney Bigelow says evidence supports a prima facie case. Witness William Archer testified they were with Crispell July 4. autopsy doctor P J Higgins noted uncertain timing of death.
The Servian minister in London presented a photo of a document found on a Bulgarian officer. The text allegedly shows Bulgarian orders to start surprise operations against Greece and Serbia, indicating they initiated the hostilities.
Martin M. Mulhall, long time lobbyist for the National Association of Manufacturers, testified before the Senate lobby investigating committee. He spoke about two hours as letters were examined, revealing alleged relations with Marshall Cushing, former secretary of the Manufacturers' Association.

Mr. McDonald, already general manager and first vice president of the Maine Central since 1908, becomes president of the Boston & Maine as well. He said he would devote about 95 percent of his time to the Boston & Maine and stop worrying about the Maine Central property, noting the railroad is in first class shape. He warned the new job would be a hard assignment.
Police seek Arthur Brown a 38 year old Canadian foreman for Fred T Ley Construction Company East Boston who disappeared after July 4 saying he would rest due to heat. He was last seen at Wood Island works East Boston in the forenoon and intended to spend the day in Lynn. He owned a gold watch chain diamond ring and had married three months earlier.
Glen Martin and passenger Charles Day faced carburetor trouble 700 feet above Lake Michigan during a Chicago to Detroit flight. The air valve dropped causing a forced water landing 2 to 12 miles from shore. He restarted the engine, reached shore under power, and planned to resume to Ilevoix at 7:30 tomorrow.
