A big fire at the Cole Sprague Coal Company on Land First streets South Boston destroyed the tower and coal pocket. The loss is about 10000 dollars. Watchman Joseph Donahue sounded the alarm at 12 53. Firemen struggled to reach the top amid smoke while keeping the blaze from spreading to the waterfront. The adjacent wharf owned by Faison Electric Illuminating Company also burned. Neighbors awakened by the blaze rushed outside in fear of a larger waterfront fire.
