Charles Sumner Bird announced he authorized circulating nomination papers to run for Governor on the Progressive ticket. The Post reported that Bird and other Progressives had taken out papers for nomination.
In his announcement Mr. Bird said he prefers the rank and file over office but will run for Governor for the Progressive cause. He highlights two issues a centralized state government and a law requiring investigation before strikes or lockouts. He warns some industrial areas show near anarchy.
The House authorized an extraordinary lobby investigation to supplement the Senate probe. Speaker Clark appointed seven members with Representative Garrett of Tennessee as chairman. The committee will meet tomorrow to plan immediate steps.
Brockton July 9 Neither distance nor parents who willed otherwise could prevent the marriage of James F Buckley son of a wealthy shoe manufacturer to Miss Helen P Garfield both of this city who had been sent to San Diego Cal to keep her away from Buckley.
