July 9 report from Lake Waban describes Miss Florence Jennison and Miss May Palmer, both Wellesley residents, drowned after stepping into a deep hole. Their sister Elsie Jennison swam to aid, reaching the pool as the others sank, leaving three victims in the accident.
Walter Brookins, piloting a Wright airplane, soared to an altitude of about 6175 feet over the ocean, breaking all aero plane height records. He spent over an hour aloft, with most time spent circling upward, then glided to shore as fuel ran out, reaching 5600 feet before engine failure. He won a $5000 prize unless a higher altitude is recorded before the meet ends.
At Bass Point yesterday the Ward 25 Republican Club held its annual bake. Speakers praised the senior senator from Massachusetts as he blushed and bowed to enthusiastic applause while smoking many cigarettes.

At the Reims aviation meeting Rheims July 9 Leon Morane flying a 100 horsepower Bleriot monoplane covered five kilometres in two minutes 58 seconds and ten kilometres in five minutes 47 seconds while M Labouchere also of France broke the world distance record tying 340 kilometres in a single flight lasting four hours 37 minutes.
The weather forecast says the heat wave centered on Boston will continue all day Sunday with no relief until Monday morning. Even then the temperature is expected to remain warm and not fully cool.

Sadie Barkeaat seven year old daughter of John Barkeaat of 87 Oak Street was struck and killed on Tyler Street yesterday afternoon. Witness father John Barkeaat reportedly watched the fatal incident unfold.
A heavy wagon owned by the Boston Engineering Company collides with a running girl on Foyler street. The child dies at Bennet Dispensary after the father confronts the driver, Patrick Balasco, who is held on a manslaughter charge. A pursuing automobile aided in stopping Balasco at Albany street.
Peter and John Martin, Austrian brothers employed by Didier Marsh Company, drowned at Sassafras Point while attempting to rescue each other after swimming at Providence Gas Company site. Peter’s body was recovered.

Joseph Swan a former Boston real estate man charged with kidnapping his son in 1908 returns to Boston after two years in Brazil. The boy Robert G. Swan spoke a mix of Portuguese and English and did not recognize his mother who cried as the father was moved to jail. Swan had evaded extradition during a long pursuit by Middlesex authorities and Boston police, with the mother seeking return of her child.
After Swan is removed by officers in a taxicab to the Charles Street jail, a crying child remains unconscious to the surrounding events. His mother tries to quiet him, but he continues to sob and mention the ordeal.
Rufus Brigham Taft of 644 Atlantic Avenue objects to being named as co respondent in a divorce case involving Dr Gilbert N Bowen in a newspaper report dated April 29 1910. He states he is the only R B Taft in the Boston directory and asks for a correction.
Police raided the New Castle Hotel at 408 Tremont Street early today in a campaign against cheaper lodging. Twenty six people were arrested, including eleven men and fifteen women, as officers forced entry into rooms and a crowd gathered for the arrests.
In Concord New Hampshire on July 9 Dana Heath aged 21 shot himself in the forehead with a revolver after alleged jealousy over his bride of one month Belle Webber of Canterbury. He died soon after. Mrs Heath rushed from the house crying that he killed himself because he was jealous of her. She had previously attempted suicide by Paris Green but recovered.
Elsie Jennison and her sister Palmer, both 19, drowned at a lake near Wellesley College after plunging from the college bath house. Spectators watched as Clark Hall, Emerenzo Northrup, and Woods failed to reach them until their bodies were recovered after a half hour dive. Elsie Jennison, a former captain of Wellesley High School basketball, survived her attempt to rescue.
Mrs. Mary, head of the Christian Seig, marks her 89th birthday next Saturday at her home on 89th Street. Neighbors and church members plan a small gathering to honor her long life and service.
Six disciples are set to be baptized in Cambridge tomorrow morning at 10 o clock in the Charles River. Religious observance draws participants and spectators to the event.
