Seven people were killed and many prostrated by yesterday’s extreme heat. The official high was 93 degrees at 2 pm, while street thermometers read 100 to 110. The day brought fires, drownings, shootings, accidents, rescues, and personal crises alongside the heat deaths.
United States weather bulletin notes showers and cooler conditions for New England on Monday, with Tuesday expected to be generally fair. Moderate southwest to west winds are forecast along the coast, and steamers sailing Monday toward European ports may encounter showers and west to southwest winds through the Grand Banks.

In North Cambridge a sister, her husband, and their three month old baby stay at a summer home in Maynard. The brother Charles Arthur E. waited at South Station, found she was missing, broke in, and discovered his sister dead from gas in the bathroom after rescuing her body.

William Degan, 22, of 8 Dix Place Somerville, dies from intestinal wound. Robert J Verner, same address, groin wound. John Anderson, 140 Linwood Street Somerville, foot wound.
Albert Johnson and Deegan were involved in a shooting after arresting Deegan. Patrolman O Leary fired four shots, three hitting a man. one shot struck a wall near the navy yard. Deegan and Johnson were taken to Relief Hospital, Anderson slept at home then arrested. The crowd grew enraged, riot police were sent, and streetcar service halted while officers kept order.
The German steamship Hesperus from Hamburg and the six masted Boston schooner Addie M. Lawrence collided in fog east of Nantucket lightship last Saturday morning. The Hesperus arrived harbor today with a damaged bow and missing steel foremast. the Addie M. Lawrence sustained no serious damage.
