Allied troops punch a trench line near Soissons widening a two mile front in a surprise attack. Several hundred prisoners are reported captured as Australians press the Germans and the Allies push their lines in the Somme region. Dr Edward A Rumely vice president of the Mail and Express company publishers of the New York Evening Mail was arrested in New York charged with perjury in a report to A Mitchell Palmer alien property custodian. Bail not fixed as case continues.
A Beachmont and a Revere Beach street railway car collided in Chelsea Square causing 8 injuries and about 30 minutes of traffic congestion after 6 pm. The Beachmont car split a switch, both vehicles were badly damaged, and several passengers sustained back and arm injuries while others were shaken up.
