Angered by the crowd of women at the Ella Gingles trial Judge Brentano ordered the courtroom cleared and threatened to have photographs taken and given to police. The women fled to avoid exposure as the trial resumed and the girl testified she was attacked by two men.
George Wickersham Attorney General of the United States spoke to the Kentucky State Bar Association in Paducah July 7 and urged Congress to enact a law creating nationally chartered corporations for interstate commerce. He outlined how states may regulate business.
Washington July 7 The Senate adjourned at 7 pm after signaling a final tariff vote by 4 pm tomorrow if possible. Fred Rankin clubbed his housekeeper Miss Littlefield into unconsciousness causing fatal injuries. He then shot off three fingers and slashed his throat. He was taken to Biddeford Hospital but surgeons fear death.
About 10 30 p m a man named Rankin and his housekeeper Miss Littlefield were found with severe injuries in a Wells Road home. Rankin died by a self inflicted wound after firing a revolver and slash with a razor while Miss Littlefield lay unconscious with a fractured skull. Neighbors recalled a prior quarrel and heavy kitchen utensils marked with blood were found nearby. Rankin had recently lost work and had employed Miss Littlefield, sister of John Littlefield of the town.
The sudden death of Mrs Anita Jones of 6 Cary Avenue Chelsea followed a visit to Revere Beach with her two children. She fell ill on a car, was brought to Dr Garrett's office, died at 1 o clock yesterday morning, and an autopsy by Medical Examiner Magrath is planned to determine the cause.
An unidentified man was struck and killed on Lincoln street Somerville at 11 16 last night. He crossed the street when an outward bound Davis square car struck him and threw him onto an inward bound track where a second car hit him. He died before ambulance arrived.
