Miss Ethel E. Dunning twenty year old nursemaid employed by Matthew Nathan son at 1157 Commonwealth Avenue Allston was held at gunpoint for about fifteen minutes by a youthful burglar as two accomplices ransacked the apartment She held Virginia Nathanson in her arms and soothed her while the revolver was leveled at her head She notified police after managing to endure the ordeal The infant slept through the incident
The ruse used by the burglar trio to gain entry to the Nathanson apartment was unusual and showed the plan was carefully prepared. Miss Dunning has been in the employ.
The Boston Elevated Railway offers a two month promotion where children under 14 ride for five cents on any car. The cut halves the regular dime fare and aims to help families with outings to beaches, the country, or city recreation centers. Adults 14 and over pay the usual 10 cents.
Washington June 30 The House of Representatives adjourned tonight at 9 49 o clock until August 15 giving members time to campaign while the Senate remains at work on the tariff.
Joseph C. Pelletier, just resigned as Supreme Advocate of the Knights of Columbus, declared from his Kenberma summer home that he would run for Suffolk County District Attorney. He had recently been removed by the Supreme Court and is planning his campaign, signaling a bitter political struggle ahead.
Democrat Pel letier announces his bid for Suffolk County district attorney. He pledges a Jeffersonian approach and says the campaign will avoid racial or sectarian strife while staying in the race until the final vote. Pittsburg June 30 Lou Tellegen dismisses reconciliation rumors with wife Geraldine Farrar as entirely unfounded stating there is nothing to it and he has no idea how the report started. He says he received a wire from New York but knows only that there is nothing to see.
