Edison Victory Seen In Edison Electric Light Patent Ruling
The Supreme Court decision in the Bate Refrigerator case affirms a fifteen year Edison exclusive right to incandescent lighting. Edward H. Johnson, Edison president, says the ruling clears a long-standing barrier and enables further infringement suits against Westinghouse Swan-Mann Thomson-Houston and United States Electric Lighting. Secretary Curtis of US Electric Light Company hedges no alarm, stating the ruling simply allows normal suit progression and does not grant a monopoly.
