Bad country roads after last Saturdays storm delayed reports from parishes in Quebec. Four men were found frozen to death in St. Anne's area with two bodies recovered and two others believed buried by snow. Mr Langlois was found frozen near Acton Valle and another farmer perished near the lit ter place after the storm.
New Flaven Conn Jan 23 There were no depositors left at close of business today in the New Flaven Savings bank. Treasurer Tuttle told Morning News rep they could pay every dollar owed and still have a $500000 surplus. The run is blamed on an unfounded rumor and fears of renewal tomorrow appear groundless.
Secret Service Agent Scanlan reports a large spread of counterfeit ten dollar notes bearing Daniel Webster in circulation in Philadelphia. The notes are generally well made but the Webster head is poorly engraved, and the printing plate remains uncaptured, with periodic appearances noted by authorities.
In Pittsburg on January 23 creditors of Gros. Phillips are signing an extension agreement. It is expected 90 percent will sign within a few days, making the agreement operative. Trustees will oversee management and direct policy and expenditures of the firm.
The BisMARCK council debated the capital removal bill on January 23. Westover's amendment restoring capital property to contributing laborers was adopted. Kennedy moved to replace Pierre Hughes with Ordway Brown. the motion passed 12 to 10.

Norwich Conn Jan 23 The New London County Mutual Insurance company of this place treasurer Roath the embezzling cashier of the Shetucket National bank has a deficit in their accounts of over $6000. Roath remains at liberty. his bonds nearly cover the shortage.

Asa Fowler 21 skater broke through ice and drowned on the Housatonic River near Birmingham. Companion Burton Hart was rescued with difficulty. Fowler’s body was recovered.

Creek and Seminole delegates in Washington sent thanks and papers urging action, and Vest and Plumb resolutions were sent to Indian affairs committee.
Washington Jan 23 Representative Lovering Massachusetts reports strong petition support for his measure to pay eight dollars monthly to every officer soldier or sailor with at least 60 days service in the late war who was honorably discharged. The plan would cover about 605000 people at an annual cost of 58078000, with proposed additions to the pension rolls bringing total annual outlay to 66678000. The bill is before the house committee on invalid pensions.
