Habs Rally To Beat Providence In Polo Thriller

In Columbus rink last evening the Hubs defeat Providences in a fast polo match with strong goaltending. Manning scored four times for the Hubs while Connors of Providence netted three goals, and Gardner of the Hubs backed by Mennitg provided key plays. Earlier Somerville beat Haverhill as Conners starred for Somerville with multiple goals and fouls and a contentious finish led to fines for Sullivan and Orr. Other polo results included Woburn High School defeating Paris East Boston 3–2 and Pawtucket beating Plymouth 6–3.

Man Struck by Double Runner on the Common

John Camdey of 55 Chestnut Street was knocked down and rendered unconscious after contact with a double runner on the Common around six o’clock. Officers Malcolm and Abbott of the State railroad squad took him to the fourth station where Dr. Bush attended him, then he was returned home. In the evening William Bichey, 19, was involved.

Injuries From City Street Incident Reported

A group of youths suffered injuries in a street incident. One boy with a bad knee was taken to City Hospital by Patrolman Whalen and later sent home. John O'Donnell sustained a scalp wound and knee injuries and was returned home by Sergeant Rich. Another boy escaped serious harm, and Joseph Kelly was knocked down and run over and treated at City Hospital.

Boston Streetcar Turmoil Drives Women Off Car

A Charlestown bound street railway car arriving in Boston on Thursday night was seized by a mob of roughs. They threw the driver from the vehicle and drove the women from the car with insulting language. The crowd tore down signs broke windows and rang in a few fares.

The Theodore Winthrop Post 85, second in state by member numbers, marked its eighteenth anniversary with a 6 pm arrival of Collingwood Post 76, Plymouth, escorted to Caterer Bolster for a supper, a reception at Grand Army Hall, and a Bay State rink procession led by Higgins’s brass band.
