Thurston was re elected a member of the board of health and Henry P Walcott city physician FE A Dunbar was elected inspector of vinegar. A number of special policemen, constables, hay weighers, measurers and surveyors, surveyors of mechanics work, auctioneers and undertakers were appointed. An ordinance established the office of superintendent of public buildings at a salary of 1750 dollars a year and use of teats.

Reverend Jacob Hoot died in Lynnfield Massachusetts yesterday at about his Ninetieth birthday. He was born December 25 1791 and taught at East and South schools in Salem before serving many years as pastor of the Congregational Church in Lyonfield. In June last he and his wife marked the sixty fifth wedding anniversary.

Judge McKim of Suffolk Probate Court heard a case about Augustus Al. Hurd who divorced his first wife under Dakota law and later married Ella F. Frost in Providence. He died August 10 1884 at his Dakota farm, leaving a will favoring his second wife. Annie Bard contests admin with will annexed arguing the divorce was illegal. Both wives appeared. Judge reserved decision.
