Harvard junior class seeks to curb prom costs by prohibiting sending flowers to ladies attending the junior prom next month. The plan reduces expenses, drawing cheers from many students as applications for prom tickets lag. Governor Foss travels to New Haven to discuss New England railroad matters with Governor Baldwin. Lieutenant Governor Walsh acts as governor while Foss is away. Foss plans informal meetings with New England governors upon return to coordinate legislative action.

Fire injures Gloucester chiefs battling blaze

In Gloucester on January 17 Fire Chief Charles W. Crowe and Driver Herman Reed suffered severe facial and hand burns while dousing an incendiary fire that destroyed three cottages and damaged a fourth. All cottages were owned by Chester Norwood.

Young Bandit Identified as Manogue in Rail Robbery

William J. Manogue alias William J. Clayton, accused in Wednesday’s Boston & Albany ticket office holdup, was identified at Charles Street jail as the same man who carried out similar robberies in New York and Philadelphia. Detectives from Philadelphia and Wells Fargo clerk confirmed the identification after viewing eight suspects.

George Hayden Rounds, former Parker House employee, sentenced to state prison at Charlestown for three to four years after retracting his plea and pleading guilty to larceny of 27 895 89 dollars from J R Whipple Company which runs the Parker House. Johannson a 30 year old resident of 47 Denton street Brockton died by his own action early yesterday morning at the St. Cloud Hotel 567 Tremont street. He shot himself in the head with an 88 calibre revolver.
