In a dramatic hearing scene Henry denies naming McAdoo Pliny Fisk and a senator in a leak claim. Lawson accuses Paul Warburg of knowledge of the leak drawing Lansing and Bernstorff into the controversy.
In Haverhill on January 15 a physician Dr El Rice and Tufts Medical students saved 8 year old Margaret Helen Jones daughter of J and Mrs William W Jones of Cedar Street by giving 32 ounces of their blood to treat fatal nasal hemorrhages. The last blood was given yesterday and the child sat up tonight and played with dolls. She is expected to fully recover by Friday.
A severely ill child with jaundice and hemorrhages in January received four ounces of Dr. Rice blood from four volunteers via injections at Tufts Medical School. Immediate responses followed as seven students donated blood, yielding rapid improvements in the child's pulse and condition.
Berlin reports indicate Dr Alfred Zimmermann says the Entente reply blocks any immediate German moves toward peace. He asserts Germany cannot directly announce peace terms in response to the latest Entente note.
Dr. Zimmerman stated the entente’s answer to the President did not fully shut the door on future peace efforts before either side was entirely crushed.
Tremont street department store thief fled after snatching a sweater at about 4 pm. Police seek a 30 year old man, 10 pounds overweight frame, smooth shave, sallow complexion, wearing dark suit, black overcoat and black soft hat, who threatened employee with a pistol and escaped.
Charles Lemler a Roxbury carpenter was found dead in his room at 42 Warren Street Roxbury with gas escaping from two jets. Police said he was separated from his wife who lives at 4568 Washington Street Roslindale.
Philadelphia January 15 Olliver A Brower ally of Harry K Thaw in the Frederick Gump Jr kidnapping conspiracy is sent back to Manhattan on New York detectives charge Brower with being a party to the plot Brower arrested in Philadelphia and extradited by Governor Brumbaugh Thaw lawyers seek release by habeas corpus in Common Pleas Court No 1.
Judge Patterson denied the writ and Brower with three detectives was aboard a New York train at 6 o'clock this evening.
Plans for Evacuation Day activities were set at a South Boston Citizens Association meeting. The events include historical exercises in the municipal building on Sunday evening March 11 the parade on Saturday afternoon March 17 and a banquet that evening in the same building.
George Dewey renowned admiral of the navy and hero of Manila Bay is on his deathbed at his Washington home in his 80th year. Doctors say a general breakdown with arteriosclerosis has weakened him and he may live 36 hours, semi conscious with life gradually ebbing away.
The admiral, president of the general board, collapsed while leaving his home for the Navy Department. He was carried to bed as doctors cited a cold but declined recovery. Reports say he has been seriously ill for over a year, with his wife Mrs. Dewey and son George Jr. at his side as doctors warn the end may come.
In Worcester on January 15 a rescue squad saved J. Pe Petit, chauffeur for J. Edward Fuller, after his employer’s limousine ran over a 10 foot embankment on Brattle Street. The car toppled into a shallow brook, and Petit, though unhurt, could not open the doors and stood knee deep in icy water for a quarter hour.
Wesleyan University in Middletown Conn on January 15 set an intercollegiate record as 503 of 504 students attended a sermon by evangelist Billy Sunday. One student was too ill to attend.
Mayor Curley announced he will have his tonsils removed for a throat problem. Dr Edwin M Holmes of Beacon Street said a three week recovery is needed and ordered a pause on public speeches.
Lawrence A. Mills a 14 year old Milton boy is to be arraigned in Quincy court for stealing 79 dollars from Miss Ren a M Chamberlain principal of Tucker School Milton The boy was arrested in Worcester where he spent money at a soda fountain and candy stores He carried a first class ticket for Montreal and said he planned to join the army
New York January 15 The National and American leagues plan to open the baseball season on April 12 though no official announcement has been made. President B B Johnson of the American league said no statement would be issued regarding a players strike threat.
Boston stock operator Thomas W. Lawson testified before the peace leak investigation committee in Washington. He named Cabinet officers and prominent financiers, declaring he would shake the country if not the world while contending he would reveal truths despite contempt threats. The room gasped at each sensational revelation as testimony continued.
At the start of his examination the Boston man questioned the committee and said Chairman Henry had named a cabinet officer in connection with the alleged leak. Henry, under oath, denied the claim flatly.

Judge Jenny in the Superior Court denied the injunction sought by Fenway Beacon and BowGoin Square Theatres to restrain the Keith theatres from showing the serial motion picture Patria featuring Mrs. Vernon Castle. The ruling allows the Keith houses to screen the film.
City Council agrees to resume regular streetcar traffic on Washington street at 5 30 pm instead of 6 30 pm based on Councillor Kenny's claim of no congestion. South Boston service will return next week after routings are revised. Additional transfers promised for South Boston riders via Broadway and C street corner.
Harold Mattacell, a conductor for the Boston Elevated Railway, was killed early today when struck by an automobile at Fo and N streets in South Boston. The car was driven by John T. Harrington of 763 Columbia Road. Also in the car was John Heyer, vice president of the Federal Trust Company.
