City Finance Commission opposes salary raises and new building

The Finance Commission told the City Council it should not approve salary increases for the Street Commissioners and first assistant assessors or fund an immediate municipal building on the old probate property site. They urged delaying actions until the Mayor-elect takes office and criticized near election pay raises as a misused financial practice. They also advised postponing a $150000 transfer for street lighting tied to a proposed police headquarters, arguing the mayor-elect should decide, given the old probate land's value for a police station.
