District Attorney John Higgins may order arrests within three days in the Mary Kelleher case from Somerville. Six family deaths in three years are suspected to be poisonings. Inspector Carter has gathered evidence and will watch three people to prevent their escape as possible accessories.
Somerville authorities and District Attorney Higgins pursue a long suspected poisoning plot after Professor Whitney found poison in Catherine Kelleher's viscera and autopsies on William Annie and Mary Kelleher showed the same. Investigators interview relatives and trace possible purchases of rat poison linked to the Kelleher Knowles families.
Probate Court in East Cambridge processes the will of Joseph E. Merrill of Newton detailing Bowdoin College to receive about $200,000 including the principal after the sisters’ deaths if annuities are provided. Margaret Coffin and Mary Merrill receive $1900 yearly from the estate and servants gain $100 for each year of service. The library paintings and statuary are also bequeathed to Bowdoin.
Chief of Police Mc Dermott of Woburn Massachusetts arrived in Quebec with a young man named Austerwitz to identify a prisoner at the district jail who was said to be Chris Zeltin wanted for shooting four people. The prisoner did not match the Woburn description and was not Zeltin, so Mc Dermott returned home this afternoon.
In Messina a 10 year old Francesco Minis sale and his sisters Giovanna 20 and Matalina 12 survived 19 days buried beneath ruins. Francesco crawled from the cave like space after a light appeared and led to the ruined church and home nearby. The United States and Austria Hungary signed an arbitration treaty at the State Department. More than twenty nations have agreed to similar conventions. Hains greeted Captain Peter C Hains at the Long Island jail and then telephoned his parents from the Hotel Astor with his mother nearly fainting in joy. He promised to visit his brother Connie in jail daily until he is freed.
Joseph F. Currier 64 a Roxbury artist and recent McLean Hospital patient died after leaping under a departing train at Waverley station. His companion William A. O'Brien and Currier’s brother were on the trip. O'Brien attempted to intervene as the final car passed.
