A prominent Lynn businessman, he built the Stevens Building on Central Square after retiring from Stevens Tolman and later forming Silsbee Stevens. Fifty Boston merchants meet for annual association luncheon

Fifty solid business men gathered in the Boston Merchants association rooms at noon Wednesday for the annual meeting. Treasurer Joseph W Woods reported year receipts of 6391.64 and expenses 6210.18 leaving a balance of 176.46. Secretary Beverly K Moore reviewed the year’s work, highlighting the new law department. Officers for the next year were elected: President William B Wood, vice presidents N W Farley and O H Lampoon, Treasurer J B Ries Jr, directors including A K Tolman and S B Simons, clerk Beverly K Moore. The insurance committee favored creating a Boston branch of a Mutual Fire style company emphasizing selection inspection economy, no brokers or agents, claiming 25 percent savings. The proposal was referred to the directors after speakers in favor. The luncheon followed in place of the traditional annual dinner.

Roxbury man arrested after string of crimes on Tremont

Malibhi Watson, 22, formerly from Roxbury, was arrested on Tremont near Vernon Street Roxbury Wednesday evening. He faces a Manchester Ohio robbery case with $200 stolen in company with an accomplice. Police link this to an attack on Victor M Nay, a wood dealer, who was knocked down in Manchester Saturday and robbed of $200. Kay was found unconscious and badly injured.
