Gates Out of Order at Park Street Crossing
A frozen grade crossing gates failure at Park Street near Harrison Square station led to the death of Edward C. Bockus and serious injury to gateman Edward Ricket. The express struck as the two men attempted to help, Ricket suffering a broken leg and contusions while Bockus was killed. Bockus resided at 3 Ashland Street and rode the night train to the city.
