Burnham Unseats Chandler In New Hampshire Senate Race

In Concord New Hampshire on January 10 Judge Henry E Burnham won the Republican caucus vote 198 to 47 to succeed Senator William E Chandler on March 4. Burnham’s victory surprised many as Chandler blames Boston Maine railroad interests for his defeat. The tally listed other candidates including Blair Quinby Sulloway and Baker with Burnham’s victory declared unanimous. A separate vote in the senate and house will follow next Tuesday with a joint ballot scheduled for Wednesday.
