Moore Named Acting Mayor as Ma. Aldermen Elect New Chief

Charles L. Moore was chosen as acting Mayor of Malden after the death of Mayor George L. Farrell. He will serve until Feb. 18 when a special election determines a successor. A primary for mayoral nominees will be held three weeks before the election. Various Massachusetts cities held inaugural exercises including Chelsea, Melrose, Medford, Everett, Somerville, Woburn, Salem, Lowell, Worcester, Lynn, New Bedford, Brockton, and others.

Patrick McCormick is described as a man in his years who consumed poison beside the bier of his wife on Saturday. He requested attendees to leave so he could pray with the body before funeral services. He died shortly after at a hospital.

In New York on January 6, about 500 striking garment workers, mostly women, attacked police while attempting to intercept 350 young women leaving the J. L. Taylor & Co wholesale clothing plant.

New York January 6 Baldé Jack Rose whose testimony helped send Police Lieutenant Becker to Sing Sing may testify before the extraordinary grand jury probing police graft.
