Hart and Gardner Fight Ends In A Draw In Boston
Marvin Hart of Louisville and George Gardner of Lowell battled 15 rounds to a draw at the Criterion Club in Boston. Hart outpointed Gardner in nine rounds, with Gardner winning only the first and third. The crowd packed the biggest turnout the club has seen, and many disputed the referee Buckley’s decision. Hart’s left jab and aggression carried him, while Gardner’s defense and clever footwork kept him competitive until the final bell. A semi final and another eight round draw followed, as spectators included Tom Sharkey hoping for another run at Jeffries.
