Record Price Set For Provincetown Mackerel

Provincetown traders report a new record price for fresh mackerel after the schooner Little Jennie delivered a four and three four pounds fish. It sold in New York for one dollar and fifty cents, the highest amount ever earned by a local for a single mackerel.

Centenarians Meet for First Auto Ride in Plymouth

In Plymouth Massachusetts on January 2, centenarian Mary C Dame aged 100 and Tilden Pierce aged 101 met for the first time after reading stories about each other. Dame organized the meeting and they enjoyed an automobile ride from the Ryder home to South Hanson, arranged through the Boston Post. An initial hearing challenge was overcome as Dame led the proceedings.

Five Day Test Of Tech Plant At Institute Of Technology

Engineering students, about 150, start a five day efficiency test of the institute plant. They will work eight hour shifts weighing coal and measuring power in the boiler room and laboratories. The test runs 8 a m Monday to 8 a m Saturday and includes testing a 600 kilowatt Westinghouse turbine and a Westinghouse compound engine to compare efficiencies and assess a new superheater.

Engine and Milk Car Derailed Near West Cambridge

The Rutland train coach and engine derailed near West Cambridge at 5:20 yesterday afternoon. Five passenger coaches remained on the rails and no injuries were reported. A faulty switch is suspected. Service restored after the locomotive and milk car were set back on track with travel diverted to the Watertown branch.

Woman to Face Jury as Bandit

Mrs. Gertrude Bessie Fowler formerly married to a Maine druggist was held in $1000 bonds for the Lynn District Criminal Court grand jury on charges of assault and highway robbery. She is accused of striking Miss Georgia Starkey of 524 Essex street Lynn on December 21 with a gas fixture and stealing a bag containing five dollars.

A woman was assaulted and robbed in front of Lynn English High School. She could not identify her attacker due to a mask. Footprints in the school yard matched shoes worn by Mrs. Fowler, according to police.

Harry M. Jones a 22 year old aviator landed an aeroplane on Boston Common yesterday forenoon eighteen minutes after takeoff from Saugus race track. It marked the first landing on the Common and ranks among the early aeronautic feats of 1913.

Distracted Parents Seek News of Missing Boy

The parents of 17 year old William J. Rode report his disappearance from 451 Saratoga Street East Boston on June 3. They have contacted relatives and friends but no trace has surfaced. He last worked in a Haverhill bakery and told his landlady he was headed to Maine after leaving there October 1.
