Busy Wharf Day as Vessels Reach Port and Lobsters Arrive
For the first time in nearly a week a wharf saw a busy day with nearly a dozen vessels reaching port. Two steam trawlers and several schooners carried large fares while haddock and steak cod sold at wholesale prices high in the market. The Boston brought nearly 600 crates of lobsters from Yarmouth and the Aranmore from Halifax landed more lobster as dealers’ prices were listed for haddock, cod, hake, and pollock. The Charles River draw bridges near North Station will close for extensive repairs, and reports include wreckage sightings and a schooner foundered with two crew lost near Port Langlade.
