New York January 2 Joseph Katz testified under oath that Mrs Runnett died when Nellis, a real estate dealer, threw her down his front steps. Nellis was rearrested for homicide and held without bail as police verify the witness's background. Katz added a servant girl can corroborate his account.
A catastrophic blast at the Excelsior Wire and related factories in downtown St Louis killed several workers and left many missing. The debris and fires trapped employees from Levison & Blythe, Anchor Peanut, and Grubb Commission Co. Amidst the deadly wreckage, nineteen are listed as missing with twenty injured and five confirmed dead. Rescue efforts continued through the night as authorities and relatives awaited word.
