South Boston theatre license opposed at public hearing
A mixed group of church leaders and business interests opposed the Broadway Theatre Company plan for a 464 472 Broadway South Boston cinema. Opponents argued the need and demand were absent and moral harm would follow, while supporters claimed the $800 000 three story brick and stone building would boost the local economy and provide jobs.
