Boat crews from the Prospero rescued 44 survivors from the Red Cross liner Florizel wrecked on Cape Race ledges. The death toll reached 92. among the survivors 17 were passengers, with only two of 12 women and none of four children saved.
The Carmen’s Union votes to delay a city strike for 72 hours at least and transfers conduct decisions to general officers and the executive board. Governor as commander in chief requested the postponement amid a stormy meeting where supporters urged action and pay demands. Continued on Page 5-First Column.
Germany’s former chancellor says he fundamentally agrees with President Wilson’s four principles but argues they must be universally recognized. He accuses England of imperial aims and indicates openness to peace pleas from Belgium.
Captain William J. Martin of the Florizel and Major Michael Sullivan of the Newfoundland Forestry Battalion were rescued on their way to Scotland. Ralph Burnham, one of six Royal Flying Corps cadets aboard the final steamer, was also among the survivors.

An official communication from Berlin via London reports the auxiliary cruiser Wolf has returned after 15 months in the Atlantic Indian and Pacific oceans. The Kaiser telegraphed his welcome to the commander and conferred the Pour le Merite along with Iron Crosses on officers and crew.
The Wolf under Frigate Captain Nerger inflicted the greatest damage on the enemy ship by destroying cargo space and cargo, crippling its supply and fighting capacity.
Provincetown town meeting approves resolutions thanking Eli A. Grazier and J. J. Martin for raising nearly 25000 dollars to aid widows and orphans of fishermen lost in last summer’s gale. The Red Cross is commended for swift relief, with copies to the donors and publication in the local paper.
