The skeleton of a man, likely Robert A. Perkins a Utica Lumber Co salesman formerly from Malden, was found headless beside a road three miles north of Westfield. The skull lay about 100 feet from the rest of the bones, suggesting the body had lain there for months.
Letters from a lumber firm to Robert A. Perkins of 14 Catherine Street Utica were found with his body. A letter signed Hattie postmarked Proc tor Vermont Sept 22 1907 was recovered. Medical Examiner Jones found no foul play but police will await autopsy to resolve the distance between the body and skull. Perkins has been missing three months and searches extend to surrounding towns amid murder rumors. An autopsy is planned for tomorrow.
Robert A. Perkins, a traveling salesman and former private secretary to Elisha F. Converse, was found dead in Westfield. He left Malden about a year and a half ago after accepting a job in Utica New York, and his family has had no word since. His father, E C Perkins, said there was no reason to suspect suicide and suspects foul play.
A large gathering of women crowded the Beacon Hill committee room and corridors pressing to strike the word male from the states constitution voters clause. After being moved outside they held a rally on the Capitol steps and later on the Common as police urged them to disperse.
The State House hosted an unprecedented gathering of women as two English visitors, Miss Rachel Costello and Miss Eleanor Rendell, spoke to energize the suffragist cause in Massachusetts. Led by Rev. Anna H. Sylvia Green daughter of Hetty Green the wealthiest American wed Matthew Astor Wilks a 65 year old millionaire in Morristown New Jersey. Hetty Green attended the ceremony despite delaying consent and the union drew attention for the large age gap and health remarks.
At noon the Rev. Philemon E. Sturgis performed the ceremony at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. A reception and luncheon followed at the Morristown Inn where reporters gathered the bride who dodged a gift question with a smile about her mother’s death implications.
In Concord New Hampshire Mayor Charles J French was grabbed by a large black bear in a dark City Hall corridor. Performers from the nearby Auditorium Theatre rushed to assist and freed him. A bear from a performer with four bears had escaped its cage and wandered into the hallway.
Eight men were burned in an accidental explosion in the wash-up room of the American Powder Mills Company in South Acton. The blast occurred tonight. the cause is not known and several victims are believed seriously hurt.
The shed-like structure where the accident occurred was completely destroyed and nearby buildings prevented a larger blast. Total loss not stated. Injured include James and John Rogers Ralph Macomber and five Danes whose names could not be ascertained. The first three named were most seriously burned but are believed to recover.
Forecasts indicate rain and warmer conditions on Wednesday with brisk southerly winds. Thursday brings generally fair weather then colder temperatures with rain or snow and brisk to high northwest winds on the Atlantic coast from Eastport to Jacksonville.

The White Star steamer Cretic carrying 1195 passengers from Mediterranean ports ran aground near George's Island in lower Boston harbor shortly after 9 p.m. It was freed and drifted to Centurion Ledge before being pulled off by five tugs and reached quarantine at 1:45 a.m. Officials said a steering gear accident caused the rudder to fail and force the vessel off course.
Mayor Hibbard was characterized as a law-breaker by Chairman F J Brand of the Board of Aldermen in Faneuil Hall last evening for defying water and meter laws. The accusation was made before 600 Mercantile Market Men's Association members at their third annual banquet.
Chairman Brand said the excesses in city finances stemmed from department heads appointed by the Mayor, not the Board of Aldermen or Common Council. He urged enacting the proposed city charter without a referendum, calling it a great justice to the city.

The Aero Club of New England plans a 56000 cubic foot Massachusetts balloon and a dirigible for the Boston and New York Air Line. Transmitters will reach 1000 miles, with 3000 mile receiving radius. Mr Glidden to operate Morse and Continental codes for Atlantic coast stations and ships in the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and Canada.

Red rockets and sirens warned of danger to the steamer Cretic. Fort Warren relayed first call for help as Stony Beach life savers, led by Captain W. C. Sparrow, pushed a five man crew toward the vessel. Boston was alerted and tug crews moved in while searchlights revealed the ship breaking free and striking Centurion Rocks amidships.
Passengers aboard the White Star liner Cretic were startled when the ship ran aground off Quarantine on its first Boston trip in months. The incident, marked by a gas buoy collision and rapid distress signals, injured tugs and prompted immediate rescue efforts led by Captain J. B. Kerk and a pilot.
