Tax law on invested capital in reorganized firms
The act fixes rules for invested capital in reorganized corporations taking over existing businesses. If reorganized after 1911 the new firm is treated as existing earlier with same invested capital. For reorganizations after March 3, 1917, 50 percent ownership keeps asset values from being inflated. Special elections allow taxation as corporations for pre 1918 incomes, with invested capital and war taxes computed to avoid undue surtax.
