Edward J. Conroy, 50, of 541 East First Street, South Boston, was jailed at Station 12 after allegedly murdering his wife Bridget Conroy, 35, found fatally injured in the kitchen of their home at 11 15 PM.
In a second floor apartment a drunken Conroy killed his wife during a fight after she returned from a church service. Neighbors heard screams before 11 o'clock. John Coull found the scene and summoned help. The couple’s 11 year old son witnessed the tragedy before police custody.
James J. Jeffries arrived in California after a year away on tour. He will perform at Recreation Park in San Francisco Sunday, then visit the mountains near Los Angeles for training with Sam Berger scouting quarters. Jeffries aims to be in peak shape to fight Jack Johnson by July 4.
Springfield Feb 18 family and friends fret over Charles H Davenport Jr a noted paper firm official who vanished in New York last week. In East Cambridge Probate Court Albert R Glover says Mrs Lillian Marie Glover reputation lies at heart of contest as hearings resume next Wednesday with her again absent from court. Attorney Scott threatens Commonwealth process to compel her appearance while Elmore notes she can be located on 24 hours notice.
Mr. Davenport, an official of Worth Paper Company Springfield a branch of American Writing Paper Company, attended the American Pulp and Paper Manufacturers Association banquet at the Waldorf Astoria on Feb 9. He left his Murray Hotel room the next evening and has not been seen since. He is 88, with a wife and one child, and had planned to return home last week.

The Senator suffers near total right side paralysis and aphasia from a left brain hemorrhage. Loss of articulate speech is regarded by his doctor as the most serious symptom of his illness, noted in the South Carolinian’s condition.
The Southern Senator, already paralyzed, may not regain speech, a key tool in his public service. This marks his second stroke after a prior nervous breakdown two years ago. Doctors White and Pickford consulted. prognosis is serious and uncertain, with 72 hours needed to gauge hopelessness.
