Bath Tub Trust Men Guilty In Conspiracy Case

Detroit February 13 The bathtub trust was found guilty of criminal conspiracy in restraint of trade by a federal jury. The statute charged is a misdemeanor carrying up to one year’s imprisonment or a $5000 fine, or both.

New Symphony by Erwin Lendvai Upstages Wagner Overture

Boston Symphony Orchestra gave the American premiere of Erwin Lendvai’s Symphony in D minor at Symphony Hall under Dr. Mack, with Max Pauer delivering Mendelssohn’s G minor piano concerto. The program centered on Wagner’s Faust overture, which dominated the afternoon. Lendvai, a Budapest native in his 80s, studied with Puccini and Koessler. his free rhapsody based symphony impressed with modern texture but yielded a cautious first impression. Pauer’s bold yet faithful Mendelssohn performance highlighted the soloist’s daring approach, while the Wagner piece remained the enduring focus of the concert.

Purcell murders daughter in New York apartment

James Purcell once allied with Rosenthal and known for testifying on police graft quarreled with his wife and opened fire in their apartment. Their 13 year old daughter Agnes was struck by bullets and died, as the mother fainted.

Gambler in hysterics fires during quarrel killing wife and daughter

A gambler staggering into a police station confessed to firing four shots in a quarrel with his wife. Two shots hit their daughter, one in the breast and one in the arm, with the body sent to the morgue. The incident disrupts graft inquiries led by District Attorney Whitman as Purcell's testimony faces potential invalidation amid murder charges. He bought the revolver yesterday to kill wife and child, believing she poisoned their daughter's mind.

Cambridge Man Commits Suicide Over Ill Health

Alfred Bernard, 49, of 23 Cushing Court Cambridge, despondent over ill health and unemployment, shot himself yesterday afternoon in his home. He died instantly with his wife nearby. He was a rubber worker and left a wife and five children.
