Shipping in Boston Harbor After Severe North Atlantic Storms

Bay harbors faced a network of halted vessels as steamers from Liverpool and Jamaica struggle to reach port. Ice Threat Grips Beachmont and Surrounding Bays

Feb 14 Beachmont reports marshes between Beachmont and Winthrop iced over with ice piled feet high. Belle Isle inlet overflowed, covering narrow gauge road bed and tracks with soft ice but no further damage. Lynn Harbor ice blown across bay fills area between old ocean pier and Grover’s Cliffs with large ice cakes.

Snowbound Train Disrupts Winthrop Beach Run

A two-car, two-locomotive train departed Narrow Gauge station yesterday afternoon and reached Winthrop Beach at 4 30 PM, stalled overnight. Cars at Ingersoll, Thornton and the Highlands were blocked by snowdrifts of fifteen to twenty five feet, forcing passengers to stay aboard.
