Money Market And Bank Statment Review

The week opens with easy money as banks discount at 5 to 6 percent for regular customers and 7 percent for others. Desirable paper is scarce while note brokers quote 4½ to 5 percent. Call loans with collateral run 4⅜ to 5 percent, corporation paper 3⅔ to 4 percent but scarce. The bank statement due tomorrow will be unfavorably shifted by a large rise in excess reserve.
