Bachelors Women and Dogs Win in Legislature Reports

Legislative committees report victories that affect Bachelors and Women while dogs may go unmuzzled. The measures free women to drive high powered automobiles and grant bachelors a tax escape, marking a sweeping change in social policy.

Bills Turned Down In State House Action

Committees rejected multiple bills including a bachelor tax, a ban on unmuzzled dogs running at large, and a 30 horsepower limit for autos driven by women. Other measures on vehicle registration fees polling, hearings before license suspensions, and a Bay State rate case expert were also defeated. Bail reform for Boston police officials passed in committee, and Cambridge charter changes granting mayoral appointment of principal assessors advanced to a third reading. Tariff commission resolutions failed, and Curley’s liquor license revenue bill was blocked.
