Bostonian society backs honorary mayor. antiques loaned and preserved
The Bostonian society met at the old state house rooms on Tuesday. Hon. Hugh O’Brien was unanimously elected an honorary member, a first for the organization. The committee reported many photographic acquisitions of local Boston views from thirty years ago and a painting of the New England guards encampment at Savin Hill. Donations included valuable views of prefire Boston, with thanks to Henry P. Curtis. Hamlin A. Hill spoke on gravestones found during 1850 Old South church steeple work, and Hill of Copp’s Hill burial ground displayed two old stones later offered for custody by the society. The meeting also noted accessions to the library and welcomed new member Oliver Ames.
