WIFE SLAYER IS PARDONED

In New London on February 5 a barge the Annie R. towed by the Sarah F. McWilliams foundered during a gale off Bartlett's Reef. It is believed Captain John Driscoll, his wife, and their two small children were drowned. A search by the tug at New London Light found no trace. The coal laden barge was en route from New York to New London.

Misses Liner by Half Minute on Saxonia
J B Heap of Chicago missed sailing for Liverpool on the Cunard Saxonia yesterday by half a minute. He reached East Boston dock as the liner backed out and waved to friends aboard. Heap will now depart from New York. The Saxonia carried 29 saloon 41 second cabin and 121 steerage passengers. John Donovan, longtime resident of the state, sailed for Ireland and plans to spend the rest of his life there, given a sendoff by many friends.

Boston Tests Fire Hydrants For New High Pressure System
Officials from Boston public works tested hydrants for the forthcoming high pressure fire system. Engine 47 on a fireboat produced 2200 gallons per minute at 160 pounds.
