Three Italians fueled by liquor ran wild in the North End last night. One detained at Hanover Street Station, one hospitalized at Massachusetts General with injuries, and a third at large. A second man, Joachin Fiorine, was arrested after attempting to stab a resident with a stiletto. A further incident left Pasqualle Barbato with a deep arm gash after a razor attack at Fleet Street. Police chased suspects toward Malden.
The Swiss Federal Council decides the president may nominate an arbitrator in the Behring Sea dispute between Great Britain and America under the agreement between the two governments.
East Boston leaders urge Mayor Quincy to restore William J. Burke to his former ferry superintendent role. Major Grady Colonel Doherty and Mr Leighton lead the delegation praising Burke’s past admin work. The Massachusetts A P A met in Lawrence and elected Levi F. Davis of Somerville as state president. D. M. Pease of Springfield became secretary and Senator Monk of Brockton treasurer. Dr. J B Dunn becomes national secretary of the supreme advisory board and future meetings remain closed.
The Prince of Wales, commodore of the Royal Yacht Squadron, counsels Lord Dunraven to promote friendship between sports representatives and peoples. He views the New York Yacht Club inquiry finding as strong encouragement and believes a happy resolution to the trouble will soon be reached.
Police drop murder charge against Mrs. Ida Quinlan after reexamining evidence in the Brighton street tragedy. Prosecutions focus on a possible violent struggle between Quinlan and Sophia Grant, with new weapons and bloodstains under review. Captain Anderson of the Phosphor recounts a bright flare and roaring sound seen January 6 about 259 miles west-southwest of Ireland. Police report strengthens belief that Mrs Quinlan killed her sister Sophia Grant with a heavy lemon squeezer found near the scene.
