Old Colony and copper stocks rally amid market raid
The New York market faced a sharp raid by 16 professionals with heavy profit taking. Copper shares led gains and losses as Centennial rose to 45 while Old Colony Mining and other miners traded actively. Reports from Michigan and Lake Superior described rich ore, strong lode prospects, and plans for cross-cuts. Copper stock milestones and price movements dominated the session, with notable talk of new mines and smelter plans.

Flying Dutchman at Boston Theatre Impresses Crowd
Wagner’s Flying Dutchman drew a crowded Boston Theatre last night with Gadski and David Bispham in principal parts. Gadski delivered a superior Senta while Bispham showed a strong title role. Wispham’s singing and acting impressed, though Van Hoose’s Erik was uneven and Stehmann was at home as Daland. The chorus and Damrogh’s orchestra earned praise. Faust with Melba as Marguerite is slated for matinee today.
