Derry Field Park Outhouse Death Discovered

A man found dead in an outhouse at Derry Field Park near the old isolation hospital after wandering inside seeking shelter. His body was discovered today by Cornelius Kelliher and is believed to have been dead for several days from the cold exposure prior to discovery.

Coasting Accidents In Worcester End in Tragedy And Injuries

Worcester reports two accidents from children coasting on Christmas sleds. Harold Ahlquist, 12, on Guilford drive, struck a tree and is dying at City Hospital. Police patrol car collision injures Chauffeur John Trump and Officer Fred Boise. two children Albert and Alice Raymond unhurt.

Brookline Town Meeting Debates Tech Field Purchase

Less than 400 Brookline voters gather for a three hour meeting at town hall. The sole major actions are buying the Massachusetts Institute of Technology athletic grounds on Pond Avenue for 85000 and changing how Selectmen are elected. A heated exchange pits Desmond FitzGerald against Alfred D. Chandler over the purchase, but Chandler’s recon sideration motion fails and the change in election method is defeated.

Bill to Buy Railroads Proposes Public Ownership Plan

A labor bill filed at the State House would place street and electric railways under Commonwealth ownership and operation after July 1, 1915, with compensation to owners where contracts allow. It envisions state operation and a referendum in 1915 to determine the plan.

Market Centres Urged for New England by Agr icul tural Leaders

J Lewis Ellsworth told the New England section of the American commission on agricultural organization and rural credits at the State House that large cooperative markets for eggs bacon fruit vegetables and milk would benefit both public and farmers. The hearing also discussed a State bank to aid farmer credit with low interest loans amortized quickly and bonds issued on a cooperative basis.
