Three Escape from Charles Street Jail In Boston

Three prisoners escaped from the Charles Street Jail after sawing through bars on the third floor. Barney Clancy 35 injured on return to gate. Arthur Quinlan alias Australian Murphy 35 and John J Black 24, both serving time for revolver offenses, feared to be armed. A wide police cordon was formed within half an hour of discovery.

Trunk Death Mystery On New Yorks East Side

A boy saw two men unload a trunk from a pushcart in Pitt street and leave it in the gutter. Police opened the trunk at a station to find a still warm body of a about 40 year old man named John Kramenz a Russian Pole formerly a coal mine worker in Charleston West Virginia.

Schmidt Jury May Disagree In Hudson River Murder Case

New York December 29 jury in the Hans Schmidt murder trial reported a near ten hour holdout with no verdict. Judge Warren W. Foster urged continued deliberation after Schmidt’s defense argued hereditary insanity. The prosecution contended Schmidt was sane when he killed Anna Aumuller and disposed of her body in the Hudson River.

Clergyman Isaac J. Mead Drops Dead in Store

The Rev. Isaac J. Mead of 67 High Street Everett a Universalist leader and associate editor of the Universalist Leader died of heart failure while shopping in a Tremont Street wholesale house. He was 70. His death followed the recent death of his friend George G. Hamilton pastor of the Everett Universalist Church who died of heart failure nearby three weeks earlier.

Shackleton plans air driven sledges for Antarctic trek

Sir Ernest Shackleton outlines an Antarctic expedition using aeroplane engines on sledges and clipped wing aircraft to pull gear. The party will consist of six men and 120 dogs, with Canadian handlers, aiming to land at latitude 78 degrees south and reach Ross Sea by March 1915 aboard two oil driven ships.

Drops Dead While Waiting on Customer

Charles K K Moses a 54 year old grocery store owner at 2 Harvey street North Cambridge collapsed while weighing goods in his shop yesterday afternoon and died of heart failure. He lived at 44 Morrison Avenue Somerville and was well known in the grocery trade. A physician pronounced death shortly after 2 o'clock.
