Patterson Ram say & Co. report the steamship Thanemore left Baltimore on November 23 for London with a cargo valued at 175 527 dollars and 480 cattle aboard. The ship carried 34 officers and crew and 12 cattlemen. Built in Barrow in 1867 for the Inman line as City of Antwerp, the iron vessel measured 832 feet by 29 a 2 feet and depth 83 2, with gross tonnage 3052 and net 1971. It was bought in 1879 by William Johnstone & Co. and registered at Barrow.
Carranoona Tennessee late tonight the Hughes Lumber Company filed a general assignment to M H Ward for the benefit of creditors. D W Hughes president and general manager also filed an assignment of his property to Ward. Liabilities total 173573 dollars with assets 320088 dollars for the company. Hughes personal liabilities total 86785 dollars with assets 475277 dollars.
In Concorp New Hampshire Republicans and Democrats held late night conferences to review the state political situation. Clerk Jewett finished his answer to the Democrats mandamus and injunction petition over the next House roll and will file it in the Supreme Court tomorrow.
New York December 26. C Shuttler aged seventy four and once a Boston resident committed suicide by poison today. He was formerly well off but lost his money in speculation and grew despondent.
Denver official report states Charles McDonnell a lineman for the electric company was instantly killed when he touched a live wire while atop a pole. The accident occurred this evening adding to the dangers faced by line crews.
Special despatch from Caldwell Ohio reports a serious Duck Creek railroad wreck several miles from the town. Fifteen persons are said to be killed and numerous others injured.

Captain William Thurston, steward Frank Hammond and a seaman Lawrence drown when A H Hurlburt breaks up. Rescue efforts save others, while trains, ferries, and life saving crews face historic winds and drifting snow across multiple ports.
