Dover New Hampshire December 25 Isaac B Sawtell has been found guilty of murder in the first degree for killing his brother Hiram and sentenced to be hanged on the first Tuesday in January 1892. The jury returned a verdict after deliberating for just under two hours and Sawtell listened without visible emotion as the sentence was pronounced.
Captain Mosher and eleven crew members of the Atalanta arrived in Victoria aboard the Katherine from the west coast. The vessel wrecked in a ferocious gale on December 15 while bound for San Francisco with lumber.
