Denver report details a collapse on Fifteenth Street where the cable car track fell into a six foot ditch dug by Denver Gas Company workers. At least four men died and two were mortally wounded with several others bruised. 100 workers were present. The accident likely resulted from inadequate supports under the track during gas pipe removal. Names listed include William Kath N M Wilson Joseph Trainers Mike Dillon and an unidentified man about 40 James McKuen injured.

Paris December 26. The Senate passed war and colonial estimates as M Breton pressed M Viette to justify Britain closing ports to French cattle citing disease. He and Heinman were unharmed. Authorities suspect Schuster’s involvement and fear he might reveal confederates.
Marblehead reports a devastating fire destroyed nine acres of buildings including twelve shoe factories and numerous homes, with losses near 600000. A citizens meeting in Abbott Hall discussed brick reconstruction, street widening, and railway station changes as relief committees organize aid for the destitute.
