Sims refuses a decoration claiming Secretary Daniels is upset by recommendations. The Navy secretary is accused of awarding medals to undeserving recipients, then admits revising the medal list.
Detroit December reports indicate Henry Ford aims to raise the pay of his 52 000 workers to an eight dollar daily minimum within a year with possible rises to twelve dollars as machine costs are expected to fall.
Judge Sisk will rule later after summing up harsh testimony in the case of Dr. George C. Anthony versus his wife Mrs. Rachel Y. Anthony of Bangor Maine. Asa S. Allen counseled the wife as the trial concluded in Dedham Superior Court.
Rumblings of dissatisfaction within the navy over Secretary Daniels decoration awards surfaced as Admiral Sims declined to accept his Distinguished Service Medal while the awards stand. Friends in Newport reported the admiral sent a letter to Daniels criticizing the process but refused to discuss its contents.

In North Adams on December 23, Nancy Worcester, aged over 95, was found frozen to death in her single room dwelling. A grocery clerk discovered the body. She lived alone, had little food or clothing, and survived on a $100 yearly benefit. Medical examiner believes a fainting fall while tending a feeble fire caused her death.
In Middletown Connecticut on December 3 eight patients at the Connecticut Hospital for the Insane are missing after a fire destroyed the Farm building. Of 53 inmates, 45 were accounted for at midnight. The eight missing men were Nicholas Venick Hartford William Carroll Waterbury Philo Pritchard Warren Richard O'Brien Stamford Max Soracka Hartford Edward Poelio Wallingford Clinton S Lord Windsor and Charles Macheleidt New Haven.
