Local criminals sentenced to various terms in state and reformatories

George W. Chick received 48 months in the house of correction for larceny. Patrick Gallagher got three years at Concord reformatory for breaking and entering. James J. Foley drew four years in the state prison at Boston for a similar charge. Daniel Coffee received five years in the state prison. Duncan McGilvray faces two years at the reformatory for larceny in a building. John E. McCarron’s sentence was deferred after conviction. John Jones got 18 months at the house of correction for false pretences. Meanwhile James Berrigan Arthur Nabstadt Ahas Martin and John Martin face assault with intent to kill. the jury is out on that charge. The knife assault case against Isaac Turner Alexander Turner Edward Turner and Lewis Green is on trial. William Nevel was sentenced to one year in the house of correction for larceny.

In the central court Judge Parmenter held Rishton T Bailey for larceny of platform scales from John Herbert in bonds of 100. Josephine Clark faced larceny charges involving $83 and a diamond pin valued at 80 from John Costigan with bond set at 860. Banks and Young were sentenced to three months in the house of industry for larceny of 240 pounds of rubber from Thomas Butler & Co. Sullivan and Williams alias Sheehan received one year each in the house of industry for larceny of rugs valued at 13 from John H Pray & Sons.

Railway progress report from Tampico branch near Villa de Valles

The Tampico branch inspector reports after the rainy season work resumed a 40 foot high wooden viaduct at kilometer 131 and five trestle temporary bridges between 131 and 132. By late November track laying reached kilometer 185 at one kilometer per day. They aim to reach kilometer 139 where Villa de Valles will be but not Abra de Caballeros 24 kilometers farther due to Rio del Salto bridge needs. A special Boston train leaves Christmas night and Lawrence Lowell Haverhill services to Boston depart later.
