In Welch West Virginia on pay night at Davy mines a white man Wayne Demon shot three black men dead in Eugene Dye’s saloon on the main street. Demon a stranger to the town refused to flee and fired killing Lem Bootoon Frick Watts and Harry Good. He fled through a rear door and had not been captured by late night. He was born in White River Junction Vermont and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1888.
