Watchman Fatally Shoots Teen at Boston Storage Wharf

Thomas Forey, 18, a well known East Boston youth, was shot and killed at the Boston Cold Storage Company wharf around 9 pm when Lawrence W. James, the company watchman, fired as Forey advanced, prompting James to claim he feared an attack.

East Boston Watchman Charged After Fatal Shooting

A Boston watchman, 26, shot and killed Forey after confronting a suspected burglar at a wharf. Forey died at East Boston Relief Hospital from a chest wound. James was arrested for manslaughter. Forey’s parents live on Border Street, East Boston, and James resides on Pleasant Street, Charlestown.

Worcester, Dec 17 The engagement of Austin P. Cristy editor and proprietor of the Worcester Telegram to Miss Katherine V. Horan a stenographer for a local Insurance company was announced today by P H. Horan proprietor of a Mechanic street bowling alley and brother of the bride to be Cristy is 62 and a widower Miss Horan 27 He has three children and is reputed a millionaire He left the practice of law in 1884 to found the Telegram and made his fortune in newspapers His recreation has been horse racing and he owns one of the finest stables in Worcester county.

Congregation Collapses at St Stanislaus Service

Fifteen worshippers at St Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Fall River fainted from coal gas during services. They were carried outside and revived by physicians after police found drafts on two furnaces not properly adjusted following coal addition.

Ex Representative John H Casey Dies at 66 in Lee

Ex Representative John H Casey aged 66 of Lee died at home after a long life of public service. He joined Company M of the 17th Massachusetts Volunteers at 16 and was wounded in the Wilderness battle May 6, 1864. He served in the Massachusetts Legislature in 1900 and 1901 and was a friend of Governor Walsh. Funeral at St Marys Church Saturday at 9 AM followed by burial in St Marys Cemetery.
