Connolly Arrested After Dublin Boer Protests Turn Violent

In Dublin on December 17 a pro Boer protest against Trinity College’s plan to confer a degree on Joseph Chamberlain sparked clashes. Maud Gonne and James Connolly attended. Italian man fires two shots at building then escapes

Lenardo Morello a 35 year old Italian man about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches tall and 160 pounds in a black suit was involved in a disturbance at 29 South Margin Street last evening with other Italians. He fired two shots from a revolver into a building and fled. No injuries reported. Police are seeking him.

Death of man at station after seizure

A man believed to be James Breen, 3, of 14 Oscar Street, was brought to Neponset sub-station unconscious and later died at Station 11. Despite initial recovery, he suffered a sinking spell. Dr. Kernan and Dr. Westcott attended. A letter in his pocket provided the name. He worked at Long Island. Heart disease is suspected as the cause.
