Explosion rocks Brookline apartment injuring woman and children

A basement hot water tank exploded at 6 Claflin Road Brookline destroying the four story building. Mrs. Joseph Mack of Dorchester suffered serious injuries while her children and thirteen others were slightly hurt or shocked. Damages exceed 30000 dollars with walls, floors and furniture destroyed. Firefighters freed Mrs Mack and her children from debris as gas and steam flooded the premises. State police say the tank burst under high pressure likely causing the blast.
